The next jump came from Next Door Ebony, a branch of the mainstream porn company Next Door Studios. HD cameras, better lighting, more budget on staging, probably left overs from their mainstream productions, made their videos’ quality just as good as any major studio production. They also diversified the casting, breaking with the American thug stereotype. Overall, a major improvement, although the scenes still feel too staged and over scripted to me.
I actually prefer Dawgpoundusa’s productions. The video quality and the lighting are not premium, and the scenarios are very poor, but the performances are more alive and the camera focuses a lot more in the whole picture and the foreplay kissing. I am sure the scenes are staged and scripted, I do not know how much improvisation is involved. However, it is easy to forget the whole thing is acting. The performers are extremely skillful and it is not hard to forget that they are actors, know there is a camera, and were told what to do.
An outstanding camera direction takes you through the action tricking you into buying the lie. You feel you are intruding in a private scene. The actors click so well that it is like the director is just documenting the chemistry between them. The camera focuses on the way they lock eyes on each other, they way they flirt, and every single detail that proves their performance is authentic, leaving you no option other than masturbating.
The performers
Without the exceptional casting they collected, the wonderful camera direction would be useless. I highly appreciate the taste of whoever is working behind the scenes in researching and finding new stars, as well as bringing in the best veteran talents.
