NYPD HARASSING

Who said the NYPD was liberal?

The NYPD has sent the message shown in the picture, according to an article published by the New Your Post. More to add to the panic unleashed by the Congress passing FOSTA with enough votes to avoid a presidential veto.

According to the article, NYPD harassing plan is trying to scare clients and affect sex workers’ demand. Although the campaign seems to be targeting the straight prostitution market, you can never be sure. This NYPD harassing campaign comes from the Human Trafficking Team. Not only the Police Department, but also the newspaper seem to equate prostitution to human trafficking. It is not surprising that the New York Post would join a conservative moralizing project, though.

We have a few questions. Do NYPD understand the difference between human trafficking and prostitution? Do they not have other priorities where to spend NY citizens’ tax dollars? Is this campaign supported by the democratically elected NY government? Are they supporting this use of our public funds?

I am skeptical and pessimistic at the same time

Let’s make this very clear. This blogger condemns human trafficking and any kind of abuse with the same conviction that disapproves harassing and discrimination against sex workers and their clients. It is deeply concerning that our public servants, professional and elected, are mixing everything in the same bag, and developing public policy from a misconception.

That said, I also want to state my skepticism. I may be wrong, but this all seem just prudish noise to me, just another side effect of American Puritanism. My advise to all the “creeps” is to just continue taking the same precautions we were taking before all this backlash.

However, I am also pessimistic about the adult entertainment industry situation in general, expanding my concerns also to pornography. There are signs that it is not only prostitution what is the target. My concern comes from the fact that the liberal, progressive counter wave unleashed by Trump’s victory does not seem to cover sex work and the adult entertainment. The moralist attack is a bipartisan byproduct of the same American Puritanism mentioned before.

Although in my humble opinion there is no reason for panicking, there is no reason either for optimism. Adult entertainers in America will have to continue struggling with criminalization and persecution.

I wonder if Mintboys is having an increase in its offer, their clean policy seems to be perfect for the current events.
