ARGENTINE MOVIE

An interesting Argentine movie is about to be out there: Mi Mejor Amigo (My Best Friend). Directed by Martin Deus, it was originally expected to hit the big screens on 2017, but the release has been postponed to October 2018. We are almost there! Stay alert. The movie already received an award in Cannes.

You can take a look at the official trailer here.

A new gay Argentine movie

Lautaro Rodriguez

Argentine movies industry has a fairly well deserved reputation amongst the Spanish speaking movies factories. Actors, writers, and directors are the fine product of very good schools and a lively and prolific independent artistic movement.

If you visit Argentina, you must enjoy the countless “off Broadway” productions showing in Buenos Aires’ theaters. Those small theaters spread all over the city but concentrated in Palermo, Corrientes street, Downtown, Abasto, and San Telmo, are the endless source of impressive acting, writing, and directing talent.

I cannot wait for this release, it is the last Argentine movie that caught my attention. Even if you are not interested in good acting and talented writing and directing, you should take a look at the trailer. Lautaro Rodriguez, the young actor who plays “Caíto”, could be the next big por star if he were interested (of course I am just wishing). To be honest, I would love him to become an entry in our Reviews page.

He is not the only cutie. If you are into twinks, you may fall in love with Angelo Mutti Spinetta. By the way, if you are Argentine you may be right now wondering. Yes, he is the grandson of the Flaco Spinetta.

Plot summary (translated from cinegayonline.org)

Angelo Mutti Spinetta

“Mi mejor amigo” (2017) is a gay-themed movie about two teen agers who, due to life circumstances, will become closer and share much more than feelings.

The story tells about the friendship between Lorenzo, who lives in Patagonia (Argentina), and Caíto, a new boy whose parents are suffering economic hardships and cannot take care of him anymore.

A very nice friendship is born between Lorenzo and Caíto. The two boys will spend a lot of time together sharing intimacies and secrets, until Lorenzo begins falling in love with Caíto.

Martin Deus (the director) had previously made short films of gay themes such as “Amor Cruzado” (2008) and “La escala Benzer” (2007).

The main actors are Angelo Mutti Spinetta (Lorenzo) and Lautaro Rodriguez (Caíto).
