Best Sauna Rio 2019 is perhaps an overstatement, take it in the context of our playful Best Pingas Awards. Perhaps, it would be more accurate a headline like “My Favorite Sauna in Rio”.
The saunas in Brazil
For many sex travelers, Brazilian saunas are indeed the main magnet luring them to the South American sex paradise. We could argue that Brazil offers much more than saunas for sex travelers, but let’s stay in topic. This article is about the Best Sauna Rio 2019, after all.
Last year, we explored the saunas in Salvador and chose our favorite. 2019 was for Rio de Janeiro, city we visited twice. We stayed over there for one week in each of our trips, the first one in July, the last one in November.
First of all, let’s recognize that two weeks is not enough for an exhaustive exploration of the Carioca sauna scene. Without counting regular saunas, Rio has currently 4 establishments where clients and garotos de programa can discuss business. And do business.
However, we explored only two of those four whore houses. Besides Point 202 and Club 117, there is a third option that perhaps we should have considered (the fourth one does not sound appealing to us based on third party references). Lions Club is the newest sauna, but the comments since their inauguration have not inspired me to visit.
After July, those comments have somehow changed the tone. If I were right now in Rio, I would be checking the establishment. Unfortunately we are at home in DC, so our verdict is coming from comparing only Point 202 to Club 117.
Best Sauna Rio 2019
The winner is Point 202, in Rua Siqueira Campos. Choosing the Best Sauna Rio 2019 was not easy, because Club 117 is also an excellent establishment. Indeed, many friends will disagree with our decision.
The scoring rubric we consider was quite simple. Point only loses in Installations, but wins Location, Layout, Staff, Atmosphere, and The Boys. Following, you have the details.
The rubric
- Installations. This is the only category where Club 117 clearly wins. Their building is bigger and the rooms are more and considerably better than Pointe’s. However, our Best Sauna Rio 2019’s physical disadvantage is somehow mitigated by a very useful feature: their electronic boards to announce available rooms. This simple feature allows you to wait comfortably in the bar, cuddling and making out with your programa. In 117, you or your boy are doomed to hang out close to the counter waiting for the adjudication. But overall, 117 wins this category.
- Location. The Best Sauna Rio 2019 is very close to Copacabana. In both of my trips I was able to walk to Point 202, and back to my Airbnb.
- Layout. Although 117’s building is roomier, Point 202’s layout is better. The way the establishment is designed fosters a socializing hub around the bar that concentrates the cruising in a non smoking area. There is a smoking bar upstairs, but you do not need to cope with the smell if you are a non smoker.
- Staff. The Best Sauna Rio 2019 has the hottest and friendlier employees. By far. Some of them are really hot, and available.
- Atmosphere. The social and cruising hub at the bar and stage area at Point 202 is often taken over by a party atmosphere very high in energy and fun. The scene in Club 117 is balkanized in many different corners.
The boys at the Best Sauna Rio 2019
Needless to say, we are devoting a separate subtitle to the boys. This is perhaps the most important criteria to assess which one is the best sauna Rio 2019.
My observations indicate that many of the garotos de programa attend both establishments, Point 202 and Club 117, following the crowd. Saunas offer free or discount cabins in different days, and clients follow that offer. However we can identify commonalities, although it is important to keep in mind that they are just general trends.
In general, the garotos de programa in offer in Club 117 tend to be more muscular and slightly older than the ones in Point 202. I did not really notice difference in ethnicity, the providers crowd is quite diverse in both establishments.
My preference is towards athletic, not over muscular bodies. Definitely, I find more attractive the offer in our Best Sauna Rio 2019. Nonetheless, it is not only their physical appearance.
I use saunas to try providers. I am not interested at all in a very popular type: the gay for pay young man that plays with you while watching straight porn in his phone or the TV. That is he type I have mostly found in Club 117.
I also found those in Point. But in contrast, all the guys that were good enough to be invited to a private session in my place were boys I met at our Best Sauna Rio 2019. Jonathan, Luiz, Hugo, and Wesley, they all passed the test in one of its uncomfortable cabins.
